Dot to Dot Festival returns once again this year promising another year of wonderful, unbelievably priced alternative music. Incredibly, the quality of the festival has not suffered at all since dropping the price down to a mere £13 a couple of years ago. As a result, Dot to Dot is still easily of one of the best events to attend for discovering incredible live acts.
Previous acts that have made appearances at the festival prior to being cast into stardom include Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa, The 1975 and Wolf Alice. With this in mind, it is certain that there are some hidden gems to be discovered from this year’s line-up.
The big names this year come from indie veterans ‘The Horrors’, breakthrough singer songwriter ‘Dermot Kennedy’ and Dirty Hit’s ‘Pale Waves’.
My personal recommendations include US dream pop outfit ‘Turnover’, whose newest album ‘Good Nature’ is a perfect continuation from the beautiful sound introduced on the immensely successful ‘Peripheral Vision’. Also worth checking out are local Manchester bands ‘No Hot Ashes’ & ‘Larkins’ who both within the past few months have managed to headline sell out shows at Manchester Academy 2; an incredible feat I can’t wait to see them play on the back of.
The award-winning, three day, three city event; Dot to Dot Festival takes place from the 25th-27th May in Manchester, Bristol and Nottingham. Get tickets now!By Mike Gardner
