Meadowlark are flying around the UK following the release of their stellar debut record Postcards. The Bristol-based folk-electronica duo touch down at Fibbers this Monday for the next show on their tour, and I’ll be there to see them in action.
They’re on the move. Their tracks on Spotify are making waves, breaking into the millions and rightly featuring in playlists like Spotify’s ‘The Most Beautiful Songs In The World’. They’ve seen airtime on BBC Radio One, Radio 2 and XFM, played with the likes of Gabrielle Aplin, Lewis Watson and Stornoway and hit festivals such as The Great Escape, Dot to Dot and Glastonbury’s BBC Introducing stage.
Their dark, dreamlike electro-pop radiates with grace; a divine fusion of indie, folk, electro and pop. Their sound is aerial and open – shimmering electro-waves reverberate around a wide, vibrant soundspace. Shining bright and pure through the space are Kate McGill’s wonderfully light, airy vocals (which I may or may not have a crush on), with keys that drive the tracks and strong beats that add weight and power.
Their studio tracks are glorious, yet clearly bring the same power and energy to the live stage. Cast in a shadowy venue Meadowlark are sure to have you enchanted.
Tickets for the tour have been flying fast, and shows so far have been a hit, so it’s sure to be a good one. Tickets for their tour can be found here.
