Nightmares On Wax, a Leeds local and prolific DJ whose career has spanned from the late 80s to the present day, is coming to York’s Crescent Community Venue this Friday the 7th. A key figure in Warp Records’ history, Nightmares on Wax’s music was one of the first pieces to be released by the record label.
He has been a prominent figure in the world of electronica for quite some time, coming up in the ranks with DJs such as Carl Cox as well as many other forefathers of electronic music who revolutionized and influenced many modern musicians. Nightmares On Wax’s smooth and captivating sound draws influence from many different genres of music, intertwining reggae, jazz, hip-hop and R&B whilst being proficient with electronic decks as well as records.
Nightmares On Wax brings a different approach to the electronic music scene, one that over the past few years hasn’t seen enough variety and suffered dilution from the pop industry. Nightmares On Wax has stuck to his roots throughout his career, and brings a sound and feel that’s reminiscent of the chill coffee house era.
