Singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and musical innovator Dan Croll is embarking on a small but immensely exciting tour. With his sophomore album Emerging Adulthood set to be released on the 21st of July, this’ll be a chance to hear some new material as well as some of the best tracks from his amazing 2014 debut, Sweet Disarray.
Croll, being the perfectionist he is, has been cruising relatively under the radar whilst committing his time to the studio over the past couple of years. So far, three new singles have surfaced from Emerging Adulthood, the highlight being ‘Away From Today’, a foray into big, bold brass instrumentation, coupled with sparkling percussive rhythms and Dan’s signature folksy vocals. It’s a song that explores the theme of escapism, so exotic and dreamy that you can really feel yourself being torn from the reality of the day-to-day and into Croll’s world. This is what makes him such a credible and interesting writer: he evokes emotion, not only through his lyrical prowess, but also through a knack for writing killer melodies.
Including other singles ‘Swim’ and ‘One Of Us’, Emerging Adulthood will be a source of immense excitement for loyal fans and Croll-virgins alike. Watching how the new material translates into his live show is going to be fascinating, and hearing some old favourites will only be an added bonus.
