2000s indie rock pioneers The Shins have been added to Green Man’s 2017 lineup in the wake of their fifth studio album Heartworms, set to be released on March 10th. Their visit to the Black Mountains will be their only festival stop in the UK, and a barrage of eccentric guitar-pop well worth seeing.
Also set to play the Brecons are outsider music legend Daniel Johnston in an exceedingly rare UK appearance, delightfully verbose beat poet Kate Tempest, and Nottingham minimal bark-punks Sleaford Mods. As always, Green Man boasts an almost gluttonous variety of genres, all filled with talented performers – folk wordsmith Johnny Flynn is also set to perform with his band the Sussex Wit, as well as recent art-pop breakthrough Andy Shauf off the back of his 2016 concept release The Party. With many more acts also announced across the weekend, Green Man is set to carry on its perpetual slew of fantastic lineups this year.
Green Man 2017 takes places between the 17th and 20th of August. Tickets and the full line-up are available here.By Jowan Mead
