The Lumineers are playing the O2 Academy in Leeds October 24th as part of their world tour for their newest album, Cleopatra.
The folk-rock trio based out of Denver, Colorado fully embodies the music of the Rocky Mountains. Equal parts old fashioned and forward thinking, they pair existential songs about death and love with dangerously catchy choruses. After the success of their 2012 hit ‘Ho Hey’ and their twice Grammy nominated debut album, Cleopatra is a long awaited return to their regional brand of jaunty folk-rock with a newfound sense of maturity. What the Lumineers do best, however, is engage large groups with surprisingly intimate performances. However lyrically complex their music may be, their newest releases haven’t lost the campfire-song quality of relatability and warmth that made them famous.
Their massive, year-long Cleopatra world tour has stops all over America, Britain, Europe, Australia and South Africa. These seasoned live performers bring mandolins and cellos to city venues and make them feel like a living room in Denver: warm, intimate, and full of old-world charm that feels, no matter where you’re from, like home.
