Comic book writer, comic book artist, and musician, Jeffrey Lewis is one of the flagships and heroes of the New York anti-folk scene. In a rare opportunity, he’s heading to York’s Crescent on the 29th of August along with his band Los Bolts. Together they combine a mish-mash of introspective and existential folk narratives, heavy and distorted garage rock, and dreamy soundscapes, well demonstrated in their latest album, 2015’s Manhattan.
Lewis often explores topics in an abstract and lyrical way, and usually with a somewhat odd sense of humour. His latest album describes his own experiences in the ups and downs of city life, treading on the fringes of society.
Fans of The Moldy Peaches or those who saw Adam Green in York back in May won’t want to miss this one. It’s sure to be an interesting night, with Lewis and Los Bolts hopefully bringing a little taste of New York back to its namesake.
