Born and bred in York itself, indie folk artist Benjamin Francis Leftwich is back. Leftwich’s whispering tone creates an almost pensive sound which has gained him acclaim since his early EPs. The 2011 debut album ‘Last Smoke Before the Snowstorm’ created a significant dent in the endless abyss of emerging acoustic singer songwriters, with the singles ‘Atlas Hands’ and ‘Shine’ receiving particular praise – ‘Shine’ was awarded Spotify’s most addictive track of 2014.
His upcoming album ‘After the Rain’ is set to be released in August, carrying February’s sneak preview single ‘Tilikum’. The album looks to be perfect for those lazy days which require some relaxed easy listening.
Leftwich returns to his home town on May 1st at The Crescent, and is sure to create a chilled atmosphere with his stripped back style. Fans of artists such as José Gonzáles and Bon Iver will not be disappointed. Tickets can be bought here.
