Circulation Symbol

Blackbox has been running for less than a year but is already distinguishing itself from the evermore crowded population of student run club-nights in York. Starting small in Derwent squash courts, 2015 looks to be big for Blackbox as the night goes from strength to strength.

In the coming months they’ll be collaborating with Deep Shit, a record label run by Jack Savidge of Friendly Fires and Edwin Congreave of Foals. That night will be on the 1st of May and promises to be an evening of excitement and good times all round.

Looking to sooner horizons however, Blackbox have a resident’s night at Mansion this Friday. The night is a varied collection of some of York’s best DJs from a variety of nights, including Troy from On&On and Slacky from Texture the night is in reliably safe hands. Antwon will be there flying Blackbox’s flag and the crew have shown they’re unafraid to mix it up, with not one but two live sets. The first is Vacuum Systems who played out a brilliant set for Animaux earlier this year, and the second is Jack McNeill who wowed crowds with his performance at the most recent Circulation launch party.

Who knows what lies in store for BlackBox after these next two parties, but it would take a brave man to bet that whatever happens, they won’t keep the good times rolling.

You can access the Facebook event page for this Friday’s event here, and you can purchase tickets here.
