It seems like just yesterday we were grappling with the pronunciation of Animaux’ tagline – should we attempt the sophisticated Parisian twang, or play it cool and abandon an accent altogether?  Nowadays, I describe Animaux as ‘the one with the scary rabbit’.

Animaux have brought a variety of parties to York – from the hard-hitting bass and techno of Arka to the dark, melancholic electronica of Asa.  It seems the rabbit is the only thing to have stayed the same.  Their residents, though still the same – Endeser, Clifford’s Tower and Kineza – have really honed their craft over the last twelve months.  We’re excited to see them flourish at more Animaux nights this year.

This week’s Animaux brings Randomer to the city – a North Londoner who first caught our attention with this Young Fathers remix:

He’s featured on Hessle Audio’s 116 & Rising compilation, with his ‘Brunk‘ track which Fact Mag immediately deemed ‘killer‘.  Follow that up with his ‘Real Talk’ release on Numbers and it’s clear this chap has got a few tricks up his sleeve.

Towards the end of last year, Randomer released a couple of tracks on Hemlock Recordings, including this lively ‘bassline indulgence‘:

So, who knows what to expect of Randomer in York this Thursday?  Before taking to the dancefloor to find out, it’s well worth checking out his FACT mix from a couple of years ago, made (sort of) for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee.  It features everything from Mala to Blazin Squad to DJ Boobie, with a healthy dose of Randomer himself inbetween.
