The line-up is looking impressive for such a new festival. Unknown looks to be marrying live shows from platinum selling credible artists, with some of the best sellout DJ’s acts around. Already on the list are acts like the Mercury Music prize nominees Django Django and one of our favourites, Brit nominated Jessie Ware. Also already confirmed, are acts such as Joy Orbison and Julio Bashmore. Performances from their underground contemporaries, Four Tet, Actress and Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, whose tracks ‘Tapes & Money’ and ‘Your Love’ were Nick Grimshaw’s Record of the Week in 2011 and 2012, can also be expected. The newer additions of an ecliptic mix of acts, from the likes of The Horrors to Waze + Odyssey has also just been announced. These include the Club partners; such as beacons festival team and that of the renowned Canal Mills venue, as well as the media partners like DJ Mag.
It seems that everyone wants to be apart of this venture. With such big names involved, everything may already seem in place for what will be a big opening. However, the success of the festival will also come from the incredible work being done on the setting. Imagine the opposite of UK camping, and you’ve got Unknown. The festival, with all its venues, bars, and eating spots, will be immersed by forest adjacent to the beach. What is being created is a mysterious world, through the merging of design projects with this forward thinking music mix.
